Troubleshooting Plugin Conflicts

When a plugin or theme isn’t working as expected, it’s good to know how to troubleshoot the issue and either solve it on your own, or provide useful information to anyone trying to help you.

The first thing you should do is make sure you’re running the latest version of your installed plugins, themes, and WordPress itself.

If that doesn’t help, run through the list of tips for troubleshooting plugins in the Codex.

Next, you can try to identify which plugin is causing the problem by following these steps:

  1. Disable all plugins except for the one you’re having a problem with
  2. Check to see if the issue still exists
  3. If not, activate one plugin at a time until the issue reappears

When the issue reappears, that usually indicates there’s a conflict with the last plugin activated.
