How do you turn a fan for the day into a fan for years to come? One of the easiest ways is to connect with audience members and potential fans in person at shows and gigs.

Be inviting

When you are on break during your gigs, or are in the process of setting up/breaking down, be sure to invite people to talk to you. You can even go as far as to do this on the mic so people know you would like to meet them. Several people will come up to compliment you or ask you if you will play a specific song. These are the people who are most likely to become a part of your following, so be receptive and enthusiastic about talking to them.

Anytime you can make a connection with an individual, you have the potential of having your music spread to their friends and network.

Have something for them to take home

Everyone is busy. Everyone has a million things on their mind. Everyone has a long list of things they’d like to do, but will forget about by the time they get home. Here’s where having something that people can take home comes in handy.

Some neat things are cds (it’s okay to ask people to pay for these), guitar picks with your logo, stickers, or business cards with all of your contact information on them. Business cards are especially good, because they don’t cost a lot, can be shoved in a pocket, and can hold a lot of information. They should include your website, social media links, and booking information.

The goal is to remind someone when they get home that they heard an awesome musician and really need to check them out online.

Engage online

Being engaged with your fans doesn’t have to take up a ton of time. In fact, there are several things you can do that take only moments a day. Remember that you want your audience to feel as though they are a part of your music. Invite them to provide feedback for you, suggest songs, and ask questions.

The more of a connection you build with your audience, the more likely they are to share your music with others.

Find AudioTheme across the web:
AudioTheme.com
Facebook
Twitter

You have a solid website and social media presence, but how do you get people there?
